What is a Parent Care Specialist?

A Parent Care Specialist (PCS) is a new designation that provides the sort of deep support that a family needs in coordinating the strategic services necessary to think, plan and execute a long-term care plan. The PCS candidate will have a strong background in law, accounting, financial services, counseling on healthcare with the ability to handle multiple advisor relationships, interrelated disciplines and conflicts, as well as the ability to introduce and facilitate collaborative conversations including The Parent Care Solution’s Six Conversations.

The complexity of healthcare and financial decision-making due to the Privacy Act and HIPPA will require a liaison to various industries with a key that opens doors on behalf of the client. The PCS solves the problem of unbundled, segregated, and often disconnected information by bringing together that information in a way that allows a family to have order and control of details in a situation (simplicity) make decisions in context (balance) and allow the family to center attention (focus) on the most important issues at hand. The result is that the PCS brings practical, medical, emotional, financial, and legal confidence to the table.

“I believe the PCS will become the benchmark standard for parent care as we move forward,” says Dan Taylor, author of The Parent Care Solution. At present there is no centralizing “agent of convenience” model to manage this problem. The client needs to feel that they are cared for, provided for, and protected at the highest level. The PCS combines the other disciplines of law, accounting, healthcare, banking, financial services, etc. In many ways the PCS is like hiring your own private trustee to manage these affairs.

The Parent Care Specialist has received specific training not only in The D.O.S. Conversation*, but also in the various tax, legal, financial, and facilities care issues to help act as a facilitator. The Parent Care Specialist is compensated for their wisdom and experience in assisting you in designing the appropriate strategy.

The Parent Care Specialist is a new professional who has been specifically trained to gather the necessary financial, legal, and tax information concerning your parents’ affairs and then to design a strategy for their care capable of being implemented by you with your family’s advisees or by you with the Parent Care Specialists and your family’s advisors. If your family does not have a relationship with certain necessary advisors, the Parent Care Specialist can recommend advisors to work with you.
