Overview of Medicaid Programs
Medicaid is available at the State level. Its purpose is to assist low-income and low resource individuals/families in meeting the costs of medical care. Medicaid or Medical Assistance benefits are Title XIX of the Social Security Act; added to the Social Security Program in 1965. Each state has leeway in establishing eligibility requirements. Medical Assistance can also refer to community medical assistance benefits in which eligible persons are assisted with their daily medical needs. There is also Medical Assistance for long term care (LTC) needs (i.e. nursing home, day care, and some assisted living situations). The federal government offers health insurance protection through Medicare. This coverage is very limited, thus the need for Medicare supplemental coverage policies or medi-gap coverage. Medicare is not Medicaid.
Medical Assistance for Long-Term Care (Medicaid)
This program helps families afford the cost of a nursing home by subsidizing the Medicaid recipient's monthly income. We understand the strict regulations and eligibility criteria governing these benefits.
Community-Based Medicaid
This program offers assistance with healthcare costs incurred in the community, such as hospital and doctor expenses. The eligibility criteria that must be met involve an income cap and asset allowance. We can help you gather the proper documentation for purposes of spend down, as well as evaluate your potential for meeting eligibility criteria.
Maryland Pharmaceutical Assistance
This program is designed to help families afford cost-prohibitive medications. We will help you evaluate the eligibility criteria and manage the eligibility process to get the medications you need.
Medicaid Waiver
This program allows individuals to receive care within their community, rather than in an institutionalized setting. We will help you complete the required forms and prepare the additional documents needed. We will monitor the process until a determination has been made regarding your case.
